Another weekend gone and some more progress on the front Garden.   We were even lucky enough to enlist the help of Scott and Alicia to get one of the garden beds completed.   In our next bit of progress we have decided to continue on with the Kangaroo Paw as they add a splash of colour and we were excited to transplant a Grass Tree.  Our fingers are crossed with the Grass Tree as they are extremely finicky about being moved.

With a nice weekend upon us and no travel plans to go anywhere we have gotten stuck into the next section of the front.  I think that this means that we have another 3 good weekends to go to get the front up to scratch with the grass going in last towards march.  I think…

With the opportunity available we made a quick fly by stop on the REX airlines to Moruya to visit Evan and Briony in their new house and also with their new addition Oscar.   The trip was mainly an excuse for Evan to be able to take me out on his new Polycraft 4.1 m to chase some flatties and bream around the oyster leases.   It shows that the practice has been paying off even when fishing in pretty slow conditions.   Five minutes into our first trip and Evan lands a large prehistoric flathead measuring a misely 86 cm.   This was just off the size of the measuring stickers that they provide you to  make sure that you check the legal sizes.  This one was clearly of legal size, but no good for the dinner table.

On their holiday up into NSW and back down through the middle of Victoria Ash, Shell, Mitchell, Shelby and Kristofer came to visit our new abode.   It just so happened to also coincide with Michelle’s 30th.

Well after 12 months in storage and a good 6 hours of TLC.  The sideboard has made its way from Murdoch Road in Wangaratta to Laurimar.  Grandpa Keenan bought a house full of furniture from friends in Carisbrook as they were moving to Queensland after the house was burnt down in the fire in the late 1940’s.   It has lasted the test of time being at least 60 years old and possibly being an antique when the Keenan’s aquired it and has now made its way to our house.

After a couple of rain delays and then a delay due to holidays we now finally ahve somewhere for the lawn mower and other items to hide away in.

Well with Christmas over we took a trip with Chris and Allison over to Glenelg in a car convoy.  With 2 way radios in hand we headed from Bendigo to Glenelg and back.   On arrival the weather was warm and windy and the week jest progressed to warm like the rest of Australia.  On the trip we were lucky enough to be there while the XXXX Beach Cricket came to town and we had a perfect view from the Balcony of the Stamford.  We also managed a ride on the Hel-a-va Jet Boat, the Temptation Catamaran for a sunset cruise and a trip up to Mount Lofty for the sunset views.

I hope that everyone had a great Christmas.   We had the first at our new house and are heading down for a second Christmas in Peterborough to celebrate with the Gristede’s.   With most of Christmas day spent feeding and relaxing, Jill thought that on Boxing Day it was time to see some work get done around the house while they were visiting.   So with a couple of shovels and the site managers present, the pipe to the front tap from the water tank was re-checked and made leak proof and then a trench was dug right down the fence line.  A couple of hours later and the pipe was completely concealed and working perfectly.   With that completed we were feeling pretty confident and decided to tackle a trip to Bunnings and purchase the clothesline which was then also mounted onto the back wall near the tank.

The weekends sure go quickly and dont leave quite enought time to get the whole yard done.   With a combined effort from 10 am on Saturday untill about 3:00 pm on Sunday and we have just completed the new entrance to the house from the street.   We dont expect to get much traffic up it, but hope that it adds to the feng shui of the house.

It always seems to happen when we excavate around our place, and the rain has come.   In just over 4 hours of heavy rain we have filled not only the backyard, but 3/4 of the newly installed water tank.  Now we just need this water to drain off a bit so that we can get back to work.
